Title:
Bubble dynamics in gas evolving systems
Research area and project description:
Bubble-bubble and bubble-wall interactions are key to understand and improve gas evolving electrochemical processes such as water splitting. In real world, phenomena such as phase change, temperature and concentration gradients and presence of surfactants add to the complexity of the problem. The main objective of the project is to investigate the fundamental physics of these interactions and their link to the macroscopic quantities such as the energy efficiency of the process.
The main research tool will be interface-resolving numerical simulations, but there will be possibilities to incorporate experiments. You will be a member of a larger team working on different aspects of the problem using both numerical and experimental methodology.
Project description: For technical reasons, you must upload a project description. Please simply copy the project description above and upload it as a PDF in the application.
Qualifications and specific competences:
Applicants to the PhD position must have a relevant master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related fields at the time of starting the position.
In addition, the successful candidate should:
Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and multiphase flows is considered advantageous.
Place of employment and place of work:
The place of employment is Aarhus University, and the place of work is Department of Mechanical & Production Engineering, Katrinebjergvej 89, 8200 Aarhus N., Denmark.
