Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi under conservation agriculture – understanding its role in soil health

PhD defence, Wednesday, 19 March 2025, Stamatios Thomopoulos

Stamatios Thomopoulos

During his PhD studies, Stamatios Thomopoulos investigated the role of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in soil health under conservation agriculture (CA), focusing on their relationship with glomalin-related soil proteins and different soil properties. Additionally, he documented the annual dynamics of N₂O emissions under CA and explored a potential relationship between N₂O emissions and AMF biomass. The study highlights AMF’s contributions to soil health and deepens our understanding of their role in supporting sustainable agroecosystems.

The PhD study was completed at Department of Agroecology, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Aarhus University.
