Carbohydrate nutrition in growing pig - Understanding of different aspects of dietary fibre
PhD defence, Thursday 21 April 2022, Geonil Lee
During his PhD studies, Geonil Lee researched carbohydrate nutrition in growing pigs. Carbohydrate includes diverse components such as sugars, oligosaccharides, starch and dietary fibre, and these components have varied functions on digestion, fermentation and gut health in the gastro-intestinal tract of pig. Geonil Lee studied how dietary fibre influenced digestion, fermentation, energy metabolism and susceptibility for infection with swine dysentery in growing pigs.
The new research findings contribute to the understanding of the mode of action of dietary fibre on nutrition and health in growing pigs.
The PhD study was completed at Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Aarhus University.
